Job Summary
The Senior Photo Editor is responsible for leading the creative and technical execution of photo and video shoots, with a primary focus on travel and lifestyle content. This role collaborates closely with creative, editorial, and branded content teams to deliver visually compelling content that aligns with client brands and high editorial standards.
The position requires strong creative direction, budget oversight, and project management skills to ensure seamless execution from concept through final image selection. A strong portfolio demonstrating creative excellence is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and oversee all technical and creative aspects of photo and video shoots
Develop comprehensive photo plans including shot lists, creative direction, lighting, lifestyle elements, and overall aesthetic
Manage budgets, scheduling, outreach, scouting, and communication with photographers and production teams
Negotiate rates with photographers and monitor budgets closely
Collaborate with art directors and editors to communicate vision to photographers, models, and crew
Source and hire photographers, videographers, models, stylists, and other creative talent
Coordinate location scouting and manage logistics with shoot locations
Select final images from galleries to maintain high-quality asset libraries and anticipate future needs
Support print, digital, and social photo and video initiatives
Ensure all deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards
Participate in regular team meetings and cross-functional collaboration
Education:
Bachelors degree in Arts, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, or equivalent experience
Experience:
7+ years of editorial experience within travel, lifestyle, or related categories, with strong emphasis on photography, art direction, and graphic design
Skills & Abilities:
Strong visual storytelling across multiple media channels
Expertise in pre-production planning and creative execution
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple shoots simultaneously
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Budget management experience
Knowledge of current photography and video trends
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
