Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse Psych Adol to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team, providing specialized inpatient behavioral health care to adolescent patients. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care to adolescents experiencing acute psychiatric and emotional challenges, collaborating closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team. You will be responsible for comprehensive assessments, development and implementation of individualized plans of care, administration and monitoring of medications, and ongoing evaluation of clinical and behavioral status, ensuring a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment. The Registered Nurse Psych Adol will provide direct care including monitoring vital signs, performing mental status exams, implementing physician orders, and leading or supporting therapeutic groups focused on coping skills, emotional regulation, and safety. You will educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies, promoting engagement and adherence to the plan of care. A key component of the role includes maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols, including suicide, elopement, and self-harm precautions, safe room checks, and consistent environmental monitoring tailored to the adolescent population. You will respond to behavioral crises using de-escalation techniques, trauma-informed care principles, and approved crisis-intervention methods, involving the broader care team as needed to ensure staff and patient safety. The nurse will advocate for the unique developmental and psychosocial needs of adolescents, supporting family involvement, school coordination when applicable, and smooth transitions of care to outpatient providers or community resources. Documentation of assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care coordination in the electronic health record must be timely, accurate, and in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards. At Mission Health, you will work in a collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and professional growth, participating in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing education related to psychiatric nursing, adolescent development, and safety best practices. This position offers the opportunity to advance your career within a comprehensive healthcare system while making a meaningful difference in the lives of adolescents and their families through compassionate, high-quality behavioral health nursing care.
