MEDIC
Overview:
As a Combat Medic Specialist, you'll administer emergency medical care in the field in both combat and humanitarian situations. Your training will allow you to serve as a first responder and triage illnesses and injuries to save lives, much like a paramedic in the civilian world. You'll also train other Soldiers in lifesaver/first responder courses and provide care on base while not deployed.

Training:
Job training for a Combat Medic Specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, TX, including the practice of inpatient care.

With a background as a Health Care Specialist, you may consider a career as an emergency medical technician, medical assistant, medication aide, or physician assistant.
With continued study and experience, you may qualify for certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a first responder.
